Chris Bird has been creating canvas paintings and mixed media artwork after a career in advertising and marketing. As a graphic artist immersed in computer technology and software, he developed a style investigating the dynamics of space through the manipulation of layered patterns and perspectives. He explores the representations of perception, creating a vision that conjures the realms of imagination, luring the viewer into unique worlds and spaces.
He is influenced by the graphic and color effects explored by optical artists such as Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley and Yayoi Kusama, as well as the abstract landscapes of futurist and surrealist artists. As a RISD student during the 80's, Chris was inspired by David Brisson's teachings on visualizing the fourth dimension. Chris Bird currently lives and works in Santa Rosa, California.
